Robert Martin Morning Meteorologist at WNCT-TV Greenville, NC AMS Certified Cell Phone: (334) 648 5075 Email: rmartin@wnct.com Certified Meteorologist/Reporter: AMS/CBM-Certified meteorologist with proven success in broadcast weather communication. Ten years experience in regional forecasting and developing local forecasting protocols specifically for broadcast market area. Skilled at analyzing and interpreting weather models to outpace the local NWS, ensuring that the most accurate and current information reaches viewers. Proficiently produce weather-scenario graphics using Max, Weather Central and Baron Lynx programs. Produce and anchor on-air weather, produce news packages, and report live outside of studio. Post daily to social media platforms, along with video webcasts when applicable. Update station web summaries, graphics, and stories regularly. I'm one of the few that started out in this business when I was already well into my 40s, which makes it especially rewarding since getting hired at that age is quite a challenge, so I take nothing for granted. I'm also proud to have obtained my AMS Certification in May 2020, and yes, I am quite the weather "nerd"! As a high school freshman, unusual circumstances left me stranded alone at home as a hurricane swept up the mid-Atlantic and flooded my hometown along the Chesapeake Bay. I was sold after that. My education has concentrations in tropical weather, which would be a natural benefit to forecasting along the southeast/gulf coasts. I've gained invaluable forecasting experience at my prior locations, and can out-pace other local and national outlets. I also enjoy the community engagement of live reporting, and as a healthy outdoors person, will embrace any opportunity to report live, especially with impending weather scenarios. As for personality, work ethic and utter flexibility are traits I'm proud to have I’ve been told repeatedly by supervisors that I’m incredibly easy to work with, possess a refreshing degree of humility, and simply never complain. I've done a few in-person school visits and absolutely loved them! Hopefully when our Covid situation improves, those will resume as before. My personal philosophy on weather is that if I can make the viewers` day more safe, I've done my job better, whether that involves forecast accuracy or timely updates. I also enjoy the challenge of making the forecast interesting on “routine” weather days when impacts are not expected!
